Berlin Man Sentenced on Gun Charge

CONCORD, NH—Jody P. Albert, 44, of Berlin, was sentenced in United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire to two months in prison and three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney John Kacavas.
In 1997 and 2008, Albert was convicted of felonies in the Coos County Superior Court. Under federal law, Albert was prohibited from possessing firearms. An investigation conducted by the FBI and the Berlin Police Department uncovered that during December 2011 and January 2012, Albert possessed a 12-gauge shotgun and a 45/410 caliber pistol. The weapons and associated ammunition were seized by the FBI and the Berlin Police Department during the course of their investigation.
On July 11, 2012, a federal grand jury indicted Albert for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and he pleaded guilty on September 17, 2012.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Berlin Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant United Sates Attorney Mark S. Zuckerman.
