Michael J. Moore, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia,
announces the sentencing of Joseph Wiley Jordan, age 64, a resident of Dougherty
County, Georgia, on January 30, 2013, in Albany, Georgia, by the Honorable W.
Louis Sands, United States District Judge for the Middle District of
Georgia.
On June 4, 2012, Jordan was found guilty by a jury on four felony counts:
count one, conspiracy to make bribes or kickbacks to a bank officer; and counts
three, four, and five, substantive acts of bribes and kickbacks to a bank
officer.
Defendant Jordan was sentenced to 15 months in the custody of the Bureau of
Prisons and two years of supervised release after serving his sentence.
Defendant Jordan was allowed to remain on bond pending his surrender to the
Bureau of Prisons.
The case was jointly investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation and the United States Secret Service. The case was prosecuted by
Assistant United States Attorney Jim Crane for the Middle District of
Georgia.
“This prosecution was successful because of the cooperation of our law
enforcement partners and the hard work of the agents and the prosecutor assigned
to the case,” said U.S. Attorney Michael Moore.
