NEWTON - Entomologists say stink bugs are showing up as unwanted house guests as they try to hibernate for the winter.
Lisa McCaughey, of Newton, says the smelly insects have taken over her home. "They sound like helicopters," she says. "They buzz over your head when you're trying to sleep."
McCaughey called Daniel Collins, of On Point Pest Control, who says he's seen a recent spike in the stink bug population.

"The last two years have been getting worse and worse," Collins says. "I've been going into houses and the walls have been painted with stink bugs."
Experts recommend sealing windows and doors tightly to prevent the bugs from entering your home. Window air conditioners should be removed during the winter.
Above all, Collins says, don't try to squash the bugs, flush them down the toilet instead.
