The United States Attorney’s Office announced that on May
22, 2013, in Helena, after a federal district court trial before U.S.
District Judge Sam E. Haddon, Ervin Salgado Osorio, a 32-year-old
resident of Toppenish, Washington, was found guilty of conspiracy to
distribute methamphetamine and distribution of methamphetamine.
Sentencing is set for September 11, 2013. He is currently detained.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Paulette L. Stewart prosecuted the case for the United States.
Osorio faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of five years and could be sentenced to 40 years, a $2,000,000 fine, and four years’ supervised release on each charge.
The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Missouri River Drug Task Force, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, the Helena Police Department, the Lewis and Clark Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
