PHILADELPHIA—Massimo Fiorani, 35, of Italy, pleaded guilty and was sentenced yesterday to six months in prison for interference with a flight crew. Fiorani interfered with the duties of crew members and attendants on board a U.S. Airways flight from Barcelona to Philadelphia on August 7, 2013. In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Court Judge Harvey Bartle ordered Fiorani to pay $25,000 restitution to U.S. Airways. Following his release, Fiorani will have an administrative proceeding with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the Tinicum Township Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams.
