SAYREVILLE — Allice Dunn, 55, of Manalapan has been
identified as the person who jumped to her death off the Victory Bridge on
Saturday, Detective Sgt. David Lasko said.
At 11:40 a.m., Sayreville police went to the Route 35 bridge on the northbound side on a report that someone had climbed over the side rail, Lasko said. Upon arrival, Patrolman Walter Arway found numerous vehicles on the shoulder of the highway and people looking over the side. The victim’s vehicle, a 2004 black Honda, was parked on the shoulder, Lasko said.
Witnesses stated they saw a woman climb over the side rail, and a woman’s body was found floating in the Raritan River just east of the bridge. After a brief search, Dunn’s body was recovered with the use of a boat from the nearby Hess refinery, authorities said.
Members of the Sayreville Fire Department, Perth Amboy First Aid Squad, Perth Amboy Police and Fire Departments responded to assist.
