The San Francisco Field Office of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation is seeking the public’s assistance in obtaining
information for a case involving a man who was recently arrested for
violating his probation.
Max Joseph Plog-Horowitz, a 21-year-old Oakland resident, was originally convicted of charges related to false impersonation of a federal officer on March 25, 2013, and was sentenced to nine months of supervised probation. At the time of his initial arrest on July 23, 2012 in Hayward, California, law enforcement authorities located false government identification and other forged law enforcement documents.
Plog-Horowitz was arrested on May 16, 2013, at his Oakland residence without incident for violating terms of his supervised release.
During an investigation while Plog-Horowitz was serving his supervised probation, FBI agents discovered Plog-Horowitz allegedly obtained a less-than-lethal FN 303, which is a semi-automatic riot control gun; other law enforcement paraphernalia; and a handgun.
The suspect made his initial appearance after his second arrest on May 17 at the federal court in Oakland and remains in federal custody. His next scheduled court appearance is on June 24.
Plog-Horowitz is described as a white male, 21 years old, 5’4” tall, and about 120 lbs. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. He is known to drive a white, 2012 Ford F-250 truck with California license plate 04507B1. He has also been known by the name Max Heartmann.
The FBI is seeking any information that the public may have to assist with this investigation, specifically those who may have come in contact with Plog-Horowitz while he was impersonating a law enforcement officer.
