U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming Christopher A.
Crofts announced that on May 23, 2013, Cecelia Gayle Shakespeare, aka
Cecelia Gayle Ferris, a 28-year-old Northern Arapaho Tribal Member, was
charged in an indictment with two counts of assault resulting in serious
bodily injury in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 113(a)(6) and 1153. The
charges against Ms. Shakespeare stem from an incident that occurred on
February 8, 2012, on the Wind River Indian Reservation. This case is
being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
An indictment is only an accusation. In every criminal case, the accused is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty, and the government always has the burden of proving guilt at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
