Firefighters from Woodland Park, Totowa and Little Falls assisted at the scene.
Mayor Keith Kazmark said up to 40 volunteers helped to shovel snow that had piled up against borough fire hydrants, clearing the way for fire crews to access the water that was needed Monday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but residents believe it started in the basement of the home.
