ELIZABETH - The mother charged in the death of a toddler found unresponsive while in her care was in court Monday.
Raquel Ramirez faces a charge of third-degree aggravated assault in the death of 2-year-old Dayanna Orozco.
Paramedics were called to Ramirez's home earlier this month, but the girl was declared dead at the scene.

Ramirez was arrested the next day. She has admitted to hurting her child, according to the judge.
The mother is accused of biting the child in the stomach and hitting her repeatedly.
Officials say they are still investigating the matter and that more charges may be filed.
